As a child, no matter how long the car ride or how much my older brother picked on me I could be taken anywhere as long as I had a book along for the ride.  The library was a wonderful place where I was able to borrow the next series of books to keep myself occupied and my mouth out of mischief.  Nerdy, I know but very true.

This love continues to flourish as an adult.  Through reading I have been inspired by the lives of others, learned about aspects that make us who we are, experienced faraway lands, laughed and even embarrassingly cried on an airplane as I finished a heart wrenching book.  My husband would like for me to stand corrected here that I actually read an entire book on the plane, sobbed at the ending and a number of fellow passengers around me were a little concerned for my well being.  Oops.

I have learned that two things happen when I share what I read:

1)    I retain the information allowing me to apply it and

2)    conversing about it feeds my intellectual soul.
